what elephants know, a novel

OK, that's the official bio which begs to question: Why did I write a book?

I honestly don't know.

I never considered writing as a hobby or occupation. I didn't spend my idle hours (especially since I never had any) scribbling out short stories, poems, or even chain of consciousness ramblings.

I think I just never had the time before. Two jobs and a full family life (three beautiful daughters and a handsome husband) left little time for anything - except reading and movies. Love a good story - Dan Brown and JK Rowling, Ann McCaffrey and Steven R. Donaldson,  James  Patterson, Tolkien, Sidney Sheldon, Michael Crichton, Mercedes Lackey. . . Are you starting to see a pattern? I read for the FUN of it. Shallow as a saucer when it comes to my entertainment Looking to get away from real life (I kinda have a life!) when I'm trying to relax. Marvel Comics have been a staple since I could afford to buy comic books.

OK, enough rambling. I wrote what elephant knows because it demanded I do it. That's all I can say. I read an article in Newsweek about an elephant that had passed the "mirror test" (test for self awareness), but none of the other elephants in the zoo were able to recognize themselves. I went to bed thinking "she was the only one dumb enough to let us know it." I woke up at 3am with Chanrille beating about in my head so hard I couldn't go back to sleep. I got up and scribbled what was in my head on a piece of paper and thought it was over. That was only the beginning.

So, that's it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Hope you enjoy.
